Sprituality: Recovery Value Five

As we become more Spiritual in this recovery process, we are more willing to let go of the insistence that other people or life events be a certain way. We are better able to accept that the way things and people are this day, this moment in time, is actually acceptable. We can stop complaining and get on with knowing that all is well. There is a purpose and time for everything. Praying that “Thy will be done” is really the best approach. It is just the way it is. Relax in the awareness that life works perfectly when we let go. Breathe deeply. Be here now and enjoy the ride. This being alive thing is pretty great.

Spirituality: The Fifth Recovery Commitment

As we reach the Fifth Level of recovery, it is apparent that much has changed. There is more peace in our personal world, less conflict and chaos. We find that we are grateful. Faith abounds. We can trust our intuition and instincts. Life seems to work on our behalf. Our relationships have a quality and depth like never before. So, we go on practicing Spirituality with prayer, meditation, reading the inspiring writings available, and breathing deeply as we appreciate the here and now. We fully accept all, respect all, and give back. The Spirit is alive in us and we are walking in Its brilliant Light. Thanks!

Spirituality: The Fifth Recovery Commitment

The afflictions of addiction, traumatic stress, and mental illness brings a depth of sickness, loneliness, un-ability, guilt, and shame (lower s.l.u.g.s.) that result in a spiritual bankruptcy. This means hope is lost and despair reigns supreme. To fully recover through the process of gaining Sobriety (Safety for trauma, Stability for mental ills), Love, Unity, Growth, and Spirituality (Higher S.L.U.G.S.) results in peace of mind and happiness. This is something to celebrate. Grateful for the Grace that brought us home, we willingly assist others in discovery of this solution. More Grace and Peace results. Lives are saved. Quality of life is enhanced.

Spirituality Day

Spirituality Day

What is “living in the Light of the Spirit”? It involves living fully in the here and now, completely present in the moment. It is about having an attitude of gratitude, being thankful for all that we have been given. It means that through prayer and meditation we find ourselves at peace with the world. We forgive others and we forgive ourselves. An easy smile, spring in our step, a bright view of the future, deep and meaningful friendships, all unfolding as we appreciate life. What recovery has provided cannot be minimized or replaced. Rejoice.
